This is a pre-accident post that was originally posted on my AUDHD Facebook page on 26th February 2023:
I hate technology. I love technology but nothing has me pulling my hair out or wanting to scream and throw things as when technology isn’t doing what it should do.
I’m currently sat at my computer which is messing around because it seems that it shut down when it wasn’t meant to and now lots of things are broken.
The reason it is broken is probably because the internet was broken earlier. The reason the internet got broken was because I had a sudden brainwave to change the password so I could get the kids to log onto a guest network so I could set a timer so the internet goes off for them at certain times but not for me or the 100’s of other devices in the house.
However, the Vodafone app couldn’t handle a simple change of password and had a paddy when I then tried to log in via the new password.
Cue call to Vodafone (who were actually lovely) followed by 2 attempts to change the password again both of which ended with the same thing happening. And they’re sending me a new router. Wi-Fi working again (just can’t change the password from the default one).
However, this resulted in my cameras not working and needing to be reset, my smart plugs not working – didn’t have the spoons so they’re still not working (smart house is a special interest of mine – don’t ask), the TV needed to be reconnected to the internet, plus lots of other things…. It was generally just a massive ball ache!
In addition to that, the Facebook/Meta Business Suite app won’t let me go into the inbox section (the screen goes grey when I do and then I have to exit the app) – which means I can’t reply to any comments or messages from that part of the app, the normal Facebook app won’t let me reply to things as this page.
Oh and the Screentime settings on my phone has been playing up for months and never works properly.
I am giving up for the day. I should be in bed but I’m too blooming annoyed at technology!
Why do they make these apps, devices etc when they don’t work properly!!!???!!!
Apologies for the ranty post tonight. Just needed to vent my frustrations.
Anyone else hate/love technology as much as I do?
